The next place we lived was in Argyle.

Dad bought the land from Ed Smith and we built the house ourselves. We put everything we had into it but we had no plans except in Dad's head. All of us girls who were still at home sawed and hammered and poured cement and did whatever else needed doing.

Mom called the house Four Maples because of the trees that grew there.

Dad lived in the trailer until the house was built enough that we could move in. We had basic running water and our electric plugged into the pole outside, but it was ours and at first we loved it.

That little blue car was Dad's Pinto. Enid bought it for him before she left home to join the Army. It was the only NEW car he ever owned.

Sue and me and Nancy were the only ones left now. Anne was lost and Millie was married and living in a trailer court in Kingsbury.

This was the first snow. It stayed overnight and was gone the next afternoon. I took lots of pictures that day.
