Dad was always adding on to the house.

This was called "board and batting"

Each window and door was second hand from sales he frequented.

To keep warm we burned wood and sometimes coal in the Warm Morning stove. Dad bought stove wood by the cord and we sawed it up and chopped it into stove size pieces. I hated carrying wood into the house! I hated the bugs and getting scraped on the wood.

I remember mornings around the stove. We would stick slices of bread on top to toast them. The side of you closest to the stove would get a mottled look due to the heat while your backside froze!

We cooked on bottled gas.

The way it looked the last time I visited

With the water poisoned there's no way anyone could live there ever again.

It was supposed to be bulldozed down by the new owners.
