Flowers
That is a magnolia in bloom. I couldn't get the colors right. Oh, there's a beautiful kid under the tree...
Notice the house behind the one we lived in? A man named John Hicks moved in with his family some time after we were here. The place had been empty a long time. On the night they moved in, I saw lights moving around inside, the power wasn't on yet. I thought they were thieves and called the cops.
We did become friends though. They were ok but they didn't drink, they were very religious, at least in public, and he never had much in the way of a real job. For a time he ran a washer repair shop but it folded. They took the whole family and went around singing gospel songs at events.
In the fall or winter, I saw flames coming out of their chimney. I went over and pounded on the door. It seems someone had put a bag of paper trash in the fireplace and it caught the chimney on fire. The fire department got it out quick and then gave them hell for being careless.
Morning Glories on the front porch.
I loved those morning glories. They always seem to photograph as violet when they are really a bright blue.
