These are giant gold fish or carp as Tom said. They were gold fish to me. They were in a pond at the entrance to the museum on post. I loved that museum. I'm going to look around to see if I have the post cards I got from there.

I bought a lot of souvenirs there. I got real bullets from the Civil War. Mom loved them. She was always reading Civil War novels like I read World War II ones today.

There was so much to see there, I came back often.

Tom on the Army bus.

I think that was the guy I wrote the "missing" poem for to send home to his girlfriend. I said back there on another page that he was blonde but I must have been wrong because I seem to think now it was this guy.

Darn, I can't remember his name either.

That was young Tim. They had a bunch of tapes there and you could listen to whatever you wanted to with the headsets.

I'm looking back on these photos now and thinking about those times. I really had a lot of fun in those days even if I didn't have close relationships.  I know why I joined but I wonder about the rest. Martha joined because she needed a way to care for her child but the rest I didn't know about. Maybe guys joined to get it out of the way. I don't know if we still had the draft then or not. Most of the people I knew back then did enjoy what they were doing.
