I never got to go to Pikes Peak or to visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I think I would have loved them both.
There is snow almost year round on the top of Pikes Peak. Visitors are warned on the road way up to to the peak that vehicles without tire chains are not allowed.
I think while we were in Colorado there was a young tourist family who was killed when their car went off the road there in a snow storm. They weren't paying attention to the warnings. It was a summer day and they thought there would be no snow and ice on the roads.
