Garden of the Gods Pikes Peak.

There were a lot better views of the Garden. I have a post card folder set but they are pretty battered by now.

Hunting Party

I'm not sure if these are the fake Cliff Dwellings or not. There were a lot of these post cards as well.

This was just titled Native. I liked the way the blouses were made of a velvet like fabric as well as the colors.

The breast plate of the one on the right is made of bone. I don't know what kind of bone but it was meant to protect against spears and arrows the same as chain mail would have in medieval times in Europe. I think these were more ceremonial outfits because I can't see them sneaking up on the enemy with bells on their legs ringing.

This was supposed to be the garb of a chief. Only a chief wore a headdress of this size. I think I read somewhere that certain colors of feathers were not used. I thought one of those was blue because it meant the wearer was a coward but I could have the wrong color for that.

Another story told of them using the red blankets and fabrics they traded for with the whites to tear up into pieces to attach to the feathers. Red was apparently a good color. I think though it varies in tribes what colors meant what.

It also varies in the designs used on the fabrics. The green "skirt" above the chief image looks more like a woodland tribal design than a plains Native. Of course, I don't know what tribes these are meant to portray.

This one was just called the Crags. I never saw it or climbed it. It would have been way out of my league.

When I get time, I'll try scanning in the folders I still have.
