That was my giant aloe that bloomed for about 3 years now. I trimmed it back and its still going strong.

I went around the yard and discarded the ones that were too far gone and replanted the ones that I thought would survive.

When I first came here 6 or 7 years back there was one small pot of aloe. It hadn't got watered enough and was looking sad and reddish instead of lush green. I was going to toss it and start over with a fresh one but Al said water it and see what happens. That small pot became the grandmother of all my aloes.

I took this shot after I started to cut back the hibiscus. They were all as tall as those last standing ones but the sticks were dry and brittle snapping easily. I think now if I'd left them in a year they might have come back but they would have looked scraggly. You can see more of the frost burned aloe here. We tried watering them all alot but only a leaf or two appeared and it was looking sad. It was an awful hard job but they all came out, the support fencing came down and new plants went in. We jsut finished it up adding mulch and putting the rocks back neatly.

That cactus plant is still going strong.

The poor woodrose bites the dust.
