I recently took this photo that I received in the mail

imported it into this program

and created this

It was a bit more work than I anticipated.

The original photo was not an oval.

Al did that part and made it blue so I could delete that color from the program and that made the area show as unstitched.

Then he thought it would be nice to add flowers so we hunted around to find a floral patterned that fit.

We hunted the stores, the internet and my hoard of patterns.

We finally found this one in an unlikely spot.

I had bought some other program cds of patterns called PC Stitch.

You buy the pattern cds you like and not the others.

I had 3 different ones, none of flowers but lo and behold there were free samples in each category and that's where I found it.

From there it was a simple matter to flip it and turn it so it worked in each corner.

I used the PC Stitch for that as I was already there.

The program only gives you colors and stitches but not the details and underlines.

I was not sure how it would all come out but I was game to try.

It was surprising how it all came together but I'm pleased and the recipient is pleased as well.

I have been asked how I did the necklace.

Here is the "secret" to the necklace.

The secret to the necklace is simply. the computer gave me about 7 or 8 blocks of various colors that looked nothing like it so I simply did that part in flesh tones and then got crafty.

I used silver metallic thread for the chain part. I like the idea of the metallic thread but it is hard to work with because it is messy.

I searched around for hearts and got about 3 kinds and none of them looked right.

I finally found a cheap silver tone charm bracelet made up of heart shaped thin silver tone links.

Al cut them apart for me and I sewed them on in the directions of the real necklace.

In the center of each is a stone, two rubies and a diamond I think.

I got tiny crystal ruby stones and I found the clear "diamonds" in plastic I think.

I sewed these in the centers of the hearts.

The earrings were a small butterfly and a star with a center.

The stars were easy. I got tiny tiny ones at hobby lobby.

I got a few different butterflies but none the right size.

I finally found tiny tiny dragonflies so there is a dragonfly instead of a butterfly but it looks similar.

I've been working in the mixed media for some time now and it adds a bit of glamour to a piece if its tastefully done.

Some of my native pieces have beads on them too.
