The Promise Keeper

Broken promises,

Stuffed neatly in a hidden corner of the mind.

I turn the key and lock the door.

Ive found the stuff of dreams.

The promise keeper.

The lover of my soul.

Ive known people who kept chains of keys.

Doors, windows, drawers, boxes.

Everything locked.

They carry the weight of the world on their hips.

Keys to cars, houses, boats are normal.

Keys to rooms, boxes, totes, cases is over the edge.

They lock their treasures.

They lock their hearts.

More importantly they lock their minds.

When you find that treasured someone,

The one who freely opens himself.

Hold him close and love him always.

The promise keeper

Shares his heart and soul with you

Openly, assuredly, keeping his promises.
