Heart Overboard

My heart drowns

without you.

It can not swim

the ocean of life.

Like a drowning victim

of a cruel sea,

I search

the crowded room

for someone

to hold on to.

I find your eyes

looking back at me.

Now, I know your spot.

I watch, waiting for you.

Our eyes meet.

Yours, wounded?

Mine over spilling.

I look away quickly.

Your eyes burn me.

Why do you smile at me?

When you don't love me?
