The Foot

Row One

Find the center of the sole by following the inside line with your finger. This middle spot is where you begin. The original pattern called for working from where you left off on the foot. I found that this center spots looks much nicer on the finished product.

Chain 3, That will always be the first stitch in a row.

DC in next loop.

Now we begin to decrease.

Double Crochet Decrease: Yarn over, insert hook in stitch indicated in pattern instructions, draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, draw up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook, (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through last 3 loops on hook to complete stitch.

Then do 23 DC. This brings you to 4 stitches before the center of the sole on the toe end.

You need to decrease here by making 3 stitches into one by the same method above.

DC in the next stitch which is the true center.

Now repeat the decrease making 3 stitches into one.

DC the next 23 stitches.

Decrease here making 2 stitches into one.

DC the last stitch and join it with the chained one.

This row began with 60 stitches but now has 54 if done correctly.

Row 2 is easier.

Chain 3

This ends the Decreasing.

This row will have 38 stitches.

Row 6

Chain 3

DC 37 stitches being sure to only stitch in the back or inside loop of the stitch. This will leave a visible line resembling a chain.

Join to the first stitch you made in this row.

Repeat for row 7

Tie off the yarn leaving about an inch tail.

This tail and loop will be worked in either after you finish the bootie or during the next line, whichever is easier for you. I simple stitch over the ends as though it were part of the loop,

Both rows 6 and 7 will have 38 stitches.

You could stop here and have a nice bootie. However the true bootie has another part that covers the ankle.
