This was near to Haleiwa beach but just beyond the actual beach. This is very sharp volcanic rock. You wouldn't want to step on this barefoot. The orangey stuff is just a stain on my print. The negatives are long gone.

Near here I would always find a lot of shells washed up. Most would be broken but I did find some lovely ones both there and at Haleiwa.

There was a side to the beach where you could walk out in the water a long way and still be only a foot or so deep. It was relaxing to me. I didn't find many shells there, at least not big ones.

Sometimes I'd sit on the beach and sift sand through my fingers picking out tiny almost microscopic ones. These would be works of art because being that small they were seldom broken. One day a native lady came along and watched me for a bit until she got the courage to talk to me. She told me the tiny roundish red ones were used in the making of leis. They were used like spacers between the flowers.

I painted that. There was so much I wanted to paint but either I couldn't do it while the wind was whipping around me or I would just want to do so many other things. I took photos hoping someday I'd find the energy to paint them.

I'm pretty sure this is not mine. I'm not even sure where it came from. It looks like part of the Polynesian Cultural Center but not a very flashy or colorful spot so maybe its not. I remember that place as always having a lot of color, either from outfits or flowers or just the tons of tourists crowding it.

Kawaiahao Church, this is a historic church in Hawaii. I didn't get to go inside and I'm not all that into checking out churches but it did impress me. I'm not sure when exactly it was built and it changed much from its beginning I read somewhere. I think it was one the earliest Christian churches in Hawaii.

This photo was labeled "friend" but she was only someone who performed for tourist and let you take her photo. I think it must have been mislabeled accidently. I did meet a lot of people but most were casual meetings like this. I got along with most folks there. There were many nationalities. I did have one of a guy I took nearby but it mysteriously disappeared from my collection before I left. There was another guy taking photos the same time I was and I almost got him in the shot as well. It was just too busy there that day. I didn't hang around long.

Just a stranger on the beach. I took it because most people back home thought all the beaches were smooth but there were a lot of really rocky places. Some of them had a really raw beauty to them.

I didn't often get to take night shots and they usually didn't come out well.

These were of the blow hole. I didn't get very close to it. Some times a tourist gets too close and then there is trouble. I sure wasn't looking to fall in to any water. It was much too dangerous.
