There was a short time in NY in between AIT and Colorado

I had made my promise and I figured I'd never see him or hear from him again.

I had about a month or two here at this time. I went back to work at the Catheter place and did my service time at a unit in Schenectady. I really thought that I had to go back to my "normal" life, just do what the military wanted me to do and that would be it.

But that damn dog let me down!

I came home from work one day and found him there, sitting in Dad's chair with the huge black dog in his lap eating hamburger balls out of his hand. I'd been had. I knew I had to marry him because I never bet what I couldn't afford to lose.

He stayed a week and then went home to his mom and then to Colorado. We wrote back and forth. One day, I realized, I couldn't remember what he looked like. That was scary.

But I took my vacation and went to Colorado for two weeks thinking that he would come to his senses and I'd  have at least a good holiday in Colorado.
