If the ice had shocked me you can imagine how I felt after waking up when the others did; but I'd had night time bay guard duty, and finding a blanket of white everywhere. Not only was the post closed down but the whole town of Petersburg was. No School, no nothing. They didn't even have plows. They had to wait for them to come in from another town to clear the roads.

I, of course, was elated. Everybody was ordered to shovel snow. Lucky me escaped that because of the night duty.

 

It was a snowball fight!
