My Little Garden

At the far end are a bunch of orange cosmos and a few purple zinnas. I always have trouble with things I plant at that end because it never seemed to get enough water before. We have soaker hoses and this year he put two instead of one and they are just about 2 feet too long so he folded them back in that area. Its worked out nicely.

Next I have some shamrock that you can't see. I transplanted it from the other bin when we tore out the dead plants. They bloomed nicely but then it looked like they died out. Now I see new ones coming back in. I found these growing wild here. Al says nobody planted them so it must have been bird droppings.

Then is a fiddlehead fern I bought this summer, some aloe that I've been growing forever and two dianthus I bought already blooming. One of them you can see closer to the middle. That big green blade plant is an Amaryllis that a friend sent me one year. After it bloomed inside, I stuck it out there and its bloomed every year since. This summer I see it has a small baby plant on the side.

After the dianthus and more aloe you will see another spiky plant. This is the result of garbage gardening. I bought a piece of ginger root in the supermarket about 2 years back. It sat in the fridge till it started to wrinkle and dry. I took it out and stuck it in the ground. Its growing and survived the frost so I have hopes for it.

At this nearest end you will see a lot of catnip and spearmint, all grown from seed.
