Shaker Beef Stew
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
1 lb. stew beef (in cubes)
1 tbsp. cooking oil
1 sliced onion
1 c. water (I use apple juice)
1/2 c. apple juice
1 med. rutabaga, peeled & diced (about 2 c.)
3 lg. carrots, diced
1 c. water
1 tbsp. parsley
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. marjoram
1/8 tsp. thyme
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. flour
In paper bag, combine 1 tablespoon flour, salt and pepper and beef cubes. Shake.
Brown beef in hot oil. Add onion, 1st cup water and apple juice. Cover and
simmer until meat is tender. Add vegetables, spices, 2nd cup water. Simmer until
tender. Blend together remaining water and flour. Stir into stew. Cook until
thickened.
