Old English Toffee
1 lb. butter
2 c. sugar plus 1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. water
1 1/4 c. chopped English walnuts
1 (8 oz.) Hershey chocolate bar (plain)

Boil butter, sugar, water and salt for 1 minute in heavy 5 quart kettle. Add 1 cup chopped English walnuts. Bring to rolling boil, stirring constantly until it reaches the hard crack stage (298 degrees). Quickly spread in 9 x 12-inch buttered pan. Cool. Melt chocolate bar in double boiler and spread over cooled toffee. Sprinkle 1/4 cup chopped English walnuts over chocolate. Cut into squares before refrigerating.
