If You go to Darien Lake, New York,
stop and visit the Buffalo Preserve.
The Cardinal is the state bird of Ohio.
Its also found all over New York State
and a lot of other places.
I have many birds I love.
The blue jay is one of them.
The Loon is one of the lovliest
birds in the Adirondacks.
Its mating call has been compared
to someone screeching in agony,
but its really not like that.
One of the most spiritual animals to me is the owl.
I believe that they protect me and my loved ones.
This scene is from Linesville, Pennsylvania.
I wrote about it in my piece on Pymatuning,
It's a side trip we always take then.
They call this the place where the
ducks walk on the backs of the fish.
Its a giant spillway where
the state of Pennsylvania
raises carp to grind up
to feed to the baby fish
in the hatchery.
People come from all over
to buy stale bread to drop down
to the teeming hoards of ducks and giant carp.
Kids love it!
Moose are often seen here.
Sometimes they come down
where civilization is and wander around.
Last winter, one was a frequent visitor
to a nearby dairy farm.
The moose ate with the cows
and hung around with them
like he was one of them.
One day he just went
back into the woods.
Having spent a lot of time with them,
I really love lions.
You will find them in my art
and as personal friends.
