Recently restored Basque Lift Bridge that allows vehicles to cross the Ashtabula River while also allowing boat traffic to pass every half hour.

This was in operation when I lived in Ohio. That's their photo and these next are mine.

I stood in front of the museum and pointed down into the harbor for most of these.

There were a couple of times when we had to wait for the bridge to come back down before we could cross.

Sometimes we'd arrive just as it was going up. Then the light on our side would be flashing red and a bell ringing like a train crossing.

When you crossed and drove a bit farther you could see this next ship. Somehow, years before I got there it had gotten stuck on a sand bar and had sat there rusting away all the time I lived here.
