One of Tommy's and Mine and Sue's favorite places to go here was to Township Park. There were swings for when he was young and the water for when he could swim. I have to say, his father did good to teach him to swim at an early age. There was going to be no growing up afraid of the water for this kid.

When Sue came to visit, it was her first time near any water like this. I never went out any farther than my knees until that one time that if I haven't talked about already, I will but much later.

Sometimes we went to Ashtabula to see the big boats. There is a Maritime Museum there with a lot of neat stuff in it even though its very small.

Tommy's father had small boats that he loved to take out. I went in one just once but he really scared me with it and I never went out in one again. Once was enough. He would take Tommy with him some of the time but back then I didn't think he would ever put Tommy in danger. He would me or at least scare me into thinking he would and yes, I believed him.

Before we got married, I was at least friends with him, or I thought so. I knew then and I still do that there are things he can do and do well but being a husband was not one of them.

First some photos

These are from the Maritime Museum in Ashtabula. Tommy loved it and I found interesting stuff there, too. Of course visiting there meant I could also visit the Goodwill which was just a block away at the time. We also got to see the swing bridge and if we were lucky see it in action.

USA Merchant Marine Memorial located in front of the Maritime Museum

These are not mine because this monument was not even there then.
