Dad in one of his gardens. Growing things meant a lot to all of us. We knew what we could grow. We knew the soil, the weather and how to get the best of them both. We also knew we could save a lot of money growing and canning our own vegetables.
This huge garden of Dad's grew big. The plants were all blooming. Some even had tiny vegetables on them when something terrible happened.
This fool below, "accidently" let out all of his hogs, about seven of them, I think. They tore all through the garden. We were all out there yelling at them and trying to get them out but it was all lost by then.
The fool below stood in the road and laughed. He said, well, what could he do? They escaped and he couldn't catch them. No mention was made of giving Dad any money to pay for his lost crop either. Dad was close to tears. Mom was angry. Nothing could be done and nothing was done.
There was not much law in Argyle.
Mom and Sue and that looks like Helen but I don't think it is. Maybe she'll tell me. Mom always had beautiful flowers.
I probably put that with the Animal Land photos but I love it.
