Baby Tommy in New York On Different Visits

Mom put the stickers up for him.

He wasn't supposed to eat solid food till he was 6 months or maybe a year old. I forget, but neither grandmother agreed. Mom fed him cornmeal mush and Grandma Hicks fed him mashed bananas when they first saw him. He was four and a half months old.

Here he's grabbing that loaf of bread like he wants it. She was always telling me I needed to feed him more because he was obviously hungry.

He was fascinated by my hair.

Big Tom came out the first time I brought him home, at least I think that was it. It was because when we flew home he said he had to fly to San Francisco to get his final discharge from the Army but I was to fly to LA and then to Newark and then a bus up to Glens Falls.

He told me they would only pay for him to fly home to his home town. I never believed that but I supposed it could have been true.

He loved books. I read to him a lot while he was on the inside. I really do believe he could hear me. He has always been a lover of books.

Not getting his own way, I expect.

On an early visit Sue and I took him to the other Crandall Park where the exercise courses are. There is a part here has slides and things for kids. I took him to that part when he was older. I told her here that I was making him do his exercises but I was just kidding. This Crandall Park and the one by the library are called the same by locals. Maybe the one by the library has another name, but if it does I never knew it.

Baby Tommy and Aunt Sue.  Sue was always his favorite Aunt and he was always her favorite nephew. We never really knew Anna's boy.
